In conclusion, a monopoly on the postal service will be beneficial to the postal service provider itself. Management and communications between the various departments will be much more convenient with a centralized administration center. Employees enjoy a more stable career in times of economic downturns as well as higher incomes than most jobs. There will be maximum usage of equipment and human resources on such a large-scale monopoly like the postal service. Efficiency will be high.

A monopoly on the postal service, however, will not be beneficial to the consumers in general. Consumers have hardly any variety of choice and the prices are hardly competitive. The quality of customer service may be compromised as there is hardly any fear of being outdone by a competitor and hence no pressure to perform. In addition, there will be little incentive to innovate new products to outdo competitors and the market will become stiff and 'closed'.

In a nutshell, whether you are in favor of the postal service's monopoly, it really depends whether you are a consumer or a service provider.
