Croatia
Present
Operations
The postal services in Croatia are a publicly owned company called HPT.
Main Role
HPT's main role is the collection, processing and delivery of letters, parcels,
and goods.
Future
Goals
Their foremost goal for the future is to convert their central mail system to a
computerized system.
Services
Provided
HPT provides services other than letter and parcel delivery, including
maintenance of postal facilities and buildings, sale of postal products such as
stamps, and import and export of some goods. They also process money orders and
telegrams both nationally and internationally.
Post Code
The postcodes in Croatia consist of five digits. The first two represent the
district, the first two combined with the third digit represent the zone, and
all together they represent the post office (e.g. 10210). If the postcode ends
with 000 then it means that postcode is for a district capital, if it ends with
00 or 0 then the postcode is for a town or a large city, if it ends with 010 or
090 then the postcode is for a town that has more than two delivery offices, and
if it ends in 001 then it is the postcode for a post office box.
