Australia

Present Operations
The Australian Postal Corporation, called Australia Post, is owned by the Australian Government and operates under the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989.

Main Role
Australia Post's mail role is to provide a letter and parcel post system both nationally and internationally.

Future Goals
The future goals of the Australian Postal system are to continue to make the letter postal service accessible and affordable to all Australians, as well as to allow privately owned companies to provide competitive express post services to Australia. They also aim to provide better service to rural Australia.

Services Provided
The services provided are, along with letter and parcel delivery, advertising mail delivery, banking facilities, bill payment capabilities, electronic bulk mail handling, express postal services, money order services, and selling postage products. They are also obliged to provide good national and international services at a uniform price.

Post Code
The Postcodes in Australia consist of four digits. The first digit represents which state or territory the letters recipient is in and the last digits represent the delivery area (e.g.. 4011).
