1. THE 3D WORLD
The world we live in is not two-dimensional. A three dimensional object or
an organism is made up of atoms, that are not flat. To understand 3D
geometry, we must know the basics of flat geometry. 3D shapes are built
from numerous surfaces.
The animation below, written in VRML, is not very complicated, but consists
of very important shapes. Look carefully at every solid. If you want, you
can move it in any direction to help you imagine what the solids look like.
When you have played enough, go to the next part of this lesson, where you
will learn the specifics of these solids. You will learn how to determine
the volume of such figures and how to evaluate surface areas.
The next part may take a bit longer to load.
