Finally integrated

American government

Dutch-American Heritage Day in Grand Rapids          The American government thought that the Dutch integration in the American soociety was so good and the Dutch good to American unification that they announced November 16 to "Dutch-American Heritage Day". This has been so since 1991. The sixteenth of November was chosen because on November 16, 1776 the American patriot ship "Andrea Doria" fired salutes, and the Dutch cannon of the island Sint-Eustasias answered that. That was the first official recognition of the USA.

F.D. Roosevelt

Dutch-American Heritage Day in Grand Rapids

Roosevelt was a Dutch descendant, and he was proud of that fact. Once, he held a speech for the "Holland Society" wherein he emphasized the role which the Dutch played during the American unification. If had not integrated, he would have never been president, along with Martin Van Buren and Vanderbilt also would not have been a famous transport tycoon.

"E pluribus unum"

The Dutch integration is a real example of the motto of the USA: "E pluribus unum" (from many, one). The American society is introduced as a melting-pot of cultures (many cultures which make one culture). American culture now has Dutch culture blended in it also.
