The capital of Brazil, Brasilia's foundation was on 21st of April, 1960. It was created with the main purpose of attracting the population concentrated in the coastal parts of the country. It is on the Centro-Oeste region.
It's importance is mainly political and it was a projected city. Among the renowned architects that designed buildings in the city, is Oscar Niemeyer. The city's design imitates the shape of a bird and that is why it's divided into A Asa Norte (The North Wing), the administration area, and A Asa Sul (The South Wing), the housing area.
