The San francisco church in Quito
Some Franciscan priests wanted to build a church in Quito.
They offered the job to an indian called Cantuņa.
he accepted the job.
He started buiding the church. Afte many years, the church was still not finished.
The Devil offrered to complete the job. he set a condition.
Cantuņa agreed.
the next day the Devil visited Cantuņa. He asked for Cantuņa's soul. Cantuņa did not give him his soul. He showed the Devil a missing stone in the church. He saved his soul. He finished the San Francisco church and he thanked God.
Cantuņa died in Quito in 1784. Today there is a chapel called Cantuņa's chapel near the San Francisco Church.
