The legend of El Dorado

Hundreds of years ago, before the Sapinish arrived in South America, The Muisca Indians lived in Cundinamarca, Colombia. People say thet the Muiscas worsshipped the Sun .

Every year, they painted their king with gold powder. Then they placed gold powder. Then they placed gold objetcts on a raft. they sailed to the centre of Lake Gautavita. When the sun appeared, the gold on El Dorado glittered in the sun then he dived into the water.

The Spanish Conquistadores heard this legend. They looked for the gold everywhere.

They did not find a lot of gold. In the 20th century, some Europeans looked for the gold in Lake Guatavita. They drained the lake. They found some gold objects. They not find a lot of gold.
