Today, there are more people of Norwegian heritage living in the United States than there are living in Norway. Norwegians in America have found many ways to remember and celebrate their Norwegian heritage. Norwegian Constitution Day parades are held in many places throughout the United States. Brooklyn, New York holds an annual parade on the first Sunday after May 17th.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington, DC was established in 1906 - just one year after Norway regained its independence. Strong historical ties link Norway and the United States. Between 1825 and 1940, more than one-third of Norway's population emigrated to America. The United States and Norway fought together in World War II and were co-founders of both the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Today, the Embassy in Washington is Norway's largest. It includes representatives from a number of Norwegian ministries.

A Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa graphically tells the story of Norwegian immigration to America. Traditional Scandinavian foods, dancing, and music are the main features of the festival. There are also exhibits of traditional Norwegian rosemaling, woodcarving, and weaving. The Sons of Norway is the largest Norwegian - American organization. It was founded in Minneapolis in 1896. It started as a mutual aid fund. it later became a large insurance agency with a cultural program.
