Eris was the goddess of strife and discord, known widely to cause trouble. The Olympians detested Eris but could never muster the courage to tell her. It was her wild rage that inflicted such fear into the Gods. It was her who initiated the argument between Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera, which began the tedious Trojan War.
