~ Red Hot Chili Peppers ~

:-)

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA, US
Toiling in the L.A. club circuit for a number of years, Red Hot Chili
Peppers finally pounded their funk rap/rock into the mainstream with
the Mother’s Milk LP. But it was never really about sitting in your
room listening to their records—it was all about how live, singer
Anthony Kiedis’ revved-up, attitude-fueled, sing-and-rap, Flea’s
amphetamine-driven slap bass, and John Frusciante’s whirling funk
fretwork made covers of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and Hendrix’s
“Fire” all their own. That the RHCP made bedfellows of both their
native L.A. Punk roots and their love for Parliament Funkadelic earned
them respect from all walks, crossing over into virtually every
subgenre of the late ‘80s, be it rap, funk, rock, or Punk. With old
guitarist John Frusciante back in the fold of late, hopefully the
RHCP can bring an end (or at least a better balance of Kiedis’
muscle to fluff) to the Twee-for-tough-guys era forever immortalized
by such lackluster offerings as “Under the Bridge.” Presented for
your rock enjoyment, a cover of Iggy Pop’s “Search and Destroy.”
