The Grand Canyon
The deepest scar in the earth's surface is the
Grand Canyon in North Arizona. It is 2000m(6500ft) deep; 29km (18 miles)
wide at its broadest point and 450km long. The Colorado River formed it
by eroding the Colorado Plateau, this process started about 10 million
years ago. The rock strata consists of yellow limestones, white and brown,
grey-blue limestones, pink granites, and black flaky schists.
