If you are the parent of a
high school student there are a few things you need to know before they leave
home. We'll be throwing all kinds of options around, not really knowing what we
want to do, how we're going to do it, or how we'll/you'll pay for it. Right now,
we need a little guidance. Do you want that guidance to be coming from our
peers, who are just as confused as we are, or from you?
But to give us advice you need to know about all of the options
we're facing so that you can help us sort them out. Read all of the literature
we get in, go to the financial aid nights with us, and tell us what you think.
We may not always like it, but we really appreciate that you want to be involved
in our lives.
While most people wouldn't expect parenting advice to come from
a bunch of teenagers we would like to offer a few suggestions. Look through the
pages in this parents section. They'll help with what may be the hardest portion
of parenthood, your children leaving home.
Another thing to think about is going back to school yourself.
Now that some of your parental responsibility is gone you'll have a lot more
free time. You won't always be ferrying people back and forth and will actually
have time to complete that bachelors or go back for that graduates. Discover the
advantages to going back to school for yourself.
