A campus visit is a key element to deciding what college you want to attend.
There is only so much you can learn about a school from its viewbook, cd-rom, or
other literature. Choosing a college is a major decision and it requires more
than "catalog" shopping. You need to actually visit a school to
understand whether it will work for you. Visiting a school gives you a chance to
take in the "feel" of it. You may be able to learn while enrolled at a
particular school but: Will you be happy? Will you fit in?
Just like people each college you visit will have its own unique personality.
Every college has a different layout, social atmosphere, student body, academic
facilities, and even weather pattern. These things are going to be a big part of
the next four years of your life, so investigate them.
To be effective though, the campus visit must be well timed and well planned.
In this portion of AfterHigh we will help you plan your college visit so that
you can best examine all the aspects of your future college and determine if its
where you really want to be.
The best way to gain information about a school is to
visit the campus and talk with students, as well as admissions representatives
and faculty.
Organize your exploration.
Remember, there is no one school for you – there are many at which you
can be happy and meet your educational goals.
