The common treatment of heart attack is to open the blocked artery and restore blood flow to the heart muscle. After restoring the blood flow, the heart attack will stop and the patient will become pain free. Early treatment of heart attack can minimize the damage of heart attack. However, late treatment may reduced the pumping force of remaining heart muscle.

How can a patient recover from a heart attack:
Heart attack patient is monitored in the hospital for 3 or more days prior to discharge home. Patient slowly increases their activity under observation. Before resuming all activity or work, time is needed for the area of heart attack to heal.
For small attack, patient can resume normal work activities after two weeks.
For moderate heart attack, it require gradually increase of activity for four weeks.
For large attack, it may need six week or longer to recover. During this healing period, patient should avoid vigorous exertion and healthy lifting or any strenuous activity that causes shortness of breath or undue fatigue.
