Hoaxes

Billy Meier

Since 1975 he has more than 600 pictures of UFOs, and these are all crystal-clear photos. He claims he has spoken to the occupants, very pretty humanoids from the Pleiades, bringing a message of peace. In the beginning, these stories were rather believable but then he said that one of the UFOs had given him a ride, taking him back in time to see dinosaurs and then forward in time to see San Francisco plummeting into a bay after a disastrous earthquake. He said that he hadn't been in contact with the aliens since 1978 but claims he still exchanges telepathic messages with them.

As Billy Meier had so many photos, so clear, many suspected him. Ground Saucer Watch technology group did computer enhancements, and could detect the strings holding the replica of the UFOs up. One of the photos depicted a UFO circling a tree, but when people investigated, they found no tree. This was because he had superimposed the tree on pictures of the area, including the UFO models. Incompletely burnt test photos of depicting models used in the photos were found, although Meier insisted he had built them after the encounter.

He still claims the pictures are real.

 George Adamski

He claimed that he was a philosopher, but he was actually a worker in a burger bar in Mount Palomar. California, U.S.A.. In 1953, he published Flying Saucers Have Landed.

In the book, he and his 6 friends had driven to Mojave Desert, hoping to see a saucer. Upon searching, he found a cigar-shaped, silvery ship hovering overhead. He received a telepathic message to follow a dirt road. He did, then he sent his friends back to the main road to watch the encounter.

Adamski approached the craft and an attractive alien appeared 400 metres away, beckoning him. With telepathic messages and sign languages, he said that he and his friends were from Venus, their spacecraft motorised by magnetism. Some of his friends were shot down and had crashed. George was not allowed to take photos or go into the craft.

Adamski wrote the book and it was very popular, making ufology more popular as well. Adamski started talks and showed pictures of his UFO friends.

In his sequel, he claimed that he had a friend from Venus - Orthon - and he was receiving messages from him. He had flown in their ship to Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. He also claimed to have seen the dark side of the moon and it was all rivers and lakes. But we now know that that side was just a deserted place with craters. Therefore, he could only have made it up.

It was only later when it was found out that he had written the first book as fiction but later rewrote it as a non-fiction story because it didn't sell. A few witnesses of his first alien encounter had their stories retracted.
