Brief Description:
Potassium is the seventh most abundant element on the earth, making up 1.5% of the weight of the earth's crust. Potassium is obtained via electrolysis of a chloride or hydroxide compound containing it, as it is not found free in nature. It is actually a metal, the second least dense known to man, and before oxidizing (as it does so extremely quickly in air) it is a bright metallic silver.
