Brief Description:
Metallic and soft, pure barium is silvery white. It oxidizes easily and reacts with both water and alcohol. When burned, barium salts produce a green flame. It is also an important radioactive tracer in medicine. Sources: Barium is produced comercially through the electrolysis of molten barium chloride, BaCl2. It can also be separated from barium oxide, BaO, through reduction with aluminium.
