How can I determine if a chemical formula is polar or non-polar. The homework question is "Is CH4 soluble in polar solvents like H2O?" I believe the answer is non-polar. This is the section about "like dissolves like". Another question "Is H-O-O-H (lewis dot) soluble in a polar or non-polar solvent?" I understand electronegativity but it gets foggy for me when I approach deciphering lewis electron dot formulas and try to decide if they are polar or not. Thanks!
