About Team C004970

Warning: This is our non-chem page of the site, where we allowed ourselves some expressions of wit and paltry humor.

Class of 2000

Function:
I did most of the technical work for the site, including setting up the Message Board and other scripts. I also typed out a great deal of the content, including the "Redox Reactions" and "Atoms and Molecules" chapters (which were, by the way, LOTS of fun...). I also provided morale boosts to my team in the form of rousing cheers and the "Wave."

Yes. I'm just kidding about the wave.

Something Interesting:
Despite the dire predictions of classmates, I took 5 AP courses my Senior year, somehow surviving with a 4.0 for the year. I also took 4 of the exams (Chemistry, Calculus AB, English Literature, and American Government) and got straight 5's. It was a hard, hard year, but worth the effort! I'll attend Pacific Lutheran University next year (go Lutes!) and plan to study business.

Class of 2000

Function:
I did all sorts of things for this site (as did we all...). Since I was in AP chemistry with Darren, I worked on content for Organic Chemistry, Acids and Bases, and the Periodic Table of Elements (which is, by the way, MUCH more work than it looks like!). I also tinkered with Macromedia Flash&trade before letting Greg take over, and learned HTML. I was also the brave soul in charge of interviews.

Something Interesting:
My name (pronounced "K'eye sa") is a Swedish nickname for Katerina. It was my Great Great Aunt's name. I'm third generation Swedish and fourth generation Lithuanian. My parents have a great love for geneology and have been teaching me how it all works. I'll be going to college at Brigham Young University this fall and plan to take lots of trips to Salt Lake City to take advantage of the geneological resources they have there. I also plan to study Chemistry.

Class of 2000

Function:
I am the graphic artist for this site. I designed the layout, created the flash animations, and made the site look "purty." I also did a lot of content work (although not as much as my two team-mates), working with Kaijsa on Acids and Bases, the Periodic Table, and a tiny bit of Organic Chemistry. As an added bonus, I was put in charge all the details that make this site look good, like making sure that all the links in our section navigators worked and were consistent (hooray!). In the unlikely absence of Doc. Gulberg, I was the surrogate fearless leader.

Something Interesting:
I am a graphic artist for fun, and delight (yes, I DID say delight) in creating computer-generated art of whatever grand ideas that enter my head. My personal favorite topic for art is space and its beauty. I've done considerable work in developing techniques for creating nebulae, and planets as well. My personal opinion is that one should be able to see as much as they like in a picture, so I always add lots of detail. This is true also for my disaster pictures, like the one below. The name of the piece is "Cataclysm" and it is one of my more popular creations. ('Course, you can't see the amount of detail I put into it since it's so tiny, but trust me... it's there.)

Class of 1967

Function:
I am the coach for this team. I provide fearless leadership and sage advice. I also make a mean batch o' nylon, if I do say so myself.

Something Interesting:
My junior year in High School I applied for an AFS exchange student program and was selected to go to Finland in 1966. I took a ten-day boat trip from New York to Holland along with about 600 other students, and enjoyed my time there vacationing, swimming, and especially enjoyed NOT having to go to school. The trip home was ten days as well, and the overall experience spurred me to Stanford, where they have an exchange program as well. I went to Germany for six months while I was there, and later (1973) went back to Germany on my own. What did I do in Germany? What else? I bought a BMW.
