The beach  is one place where physical beauty does take precedence over everything else. Good skin, hair and figure are a must.

Attracting Attention 

Get a mat and an umbrella and set up "base camp" near to where a guy (or group of guys) are. One of the best ways to draw attention to yourself is to ask a guy to rub suntan lotion over your back. Men find this very flattering, and won't hesitate to help you. While he is rubbing your back, strike a conversation, ask him where he's from, what he does etc. If you like him, perhaps you could invite him for a drink afterwards.

Another way is to run on the beach, like in Bay Watch. 

Dressed To Kill

Bikini or swimsuit, perhaps with sun shades are normal. Fact: Surface area of material worn is inversely proportional to their ability to attract attention. However, if you don't have a great figure, it might have the opposite effect.
