Shelly

I have been home schooled all my life, though for the last three years I have been enrolled in a home school program through Christian Liberty Academy. I will be graduating this spring, however I have already started taking General Education classes at our local junior college. I then plan on transferring to a State University to hopefully obtain my Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing. My interests are health, physical fitness, and the medical field, which has led me to pursue a career in nursing.

Although health has always been an interest of mine I was not raised vegan or vegetarian. But through the process of vegan2000 I decided to give veganism a try. I have been a vegan for three months now and I love it.

I did not know any of my team members or two of our coaches until the Thinkquest competition. Although I have not seen every one of our team members, it has been great working together to provide a web site all about veganism and how to have a healthy lifestyle.

Benjamin

I am lifelong vegetarian and have been a vegan for over seven years. Though I tend to focus more on the health benefits of veganism, the development of Vegan 2000 has helped me to become aware of many other advantages.

My experience with computers and web development was another skill I brought to the team. Two years ago I was part of the team that created Veganet, one of my earlier web sites and the prequel to Vegan 2000. Since that time, I have learned many new techniques and skills, which I have applied to Vegan 2000.

I had been attending Ukiah High School until my graduation in June 2000. My primary focus has been computers, including a computer aided drafting (CAD) class that has helped me to get a job doing similar work as a mechanical engineering designer at Retech, a local manufacturing company.

Next year I will be studying computer science at Mendocino Community College. After community college I plan to transfer to a California State University and get a Bachelors of Science Degree in computers.

Dana

I am not a vegetarian and I don’t have much experience though there are not many people I know who have become vegetarian. But through the combined effort to create Vegan 2000 I am sure I will have to reconsider and see the advantages especially for health that come with being a vegetarian.

I have attended Heinrich-Böll-Schule from 5th grade to 10th grade and will attend the Lichtenberg-Oberstufen-Gymnasium after the holidays. In between I spent a High school year in the United States where I met my fellow team members. Besides computer my interests are mainly performing arts, especially Vocal and Drama, languages and reading. Besides German I have studied English and French as second and third language and have spent some time in Britain and France as well as in the U.S.

When it comes to computer I must say that my experiences are rather recently. Until I spent the year in the U.S I did not come across the Internet very much. I have participated in a computer career class and I am especially interested in the different languages that make the web side accessible to all kinds of people.

I am planning on attending University after graduating from the LOG in three years from now. I am thinking about studying either journalism or media but as for now I have not decided what to do.
