Tecún Umán: General captain of the Quiché army defenders of the Mayas.

History tells that when the Spanish people came to Guatemala, guided by Pedro de Alvarado, distinguished warrior and called by the indigenous “Tonatiu” (means son of the sun), because of his blond hair; the Spanish people asked the Quiches kings for peace, but they answered with a sacrificed woman in challenge sign.  Because of these different wars came out, before the final one when the hero Tecún Umán died.

The captain Tecún Umán tried to kill “Tonatiu”, when he was riding a horse.  By mistake Tecun Uman killed the horse  instead of  “Tonatiu”.   When “Tonatiu” realized that Tecún Umán wanted  to kill him, he attacked backTecun Uman and killed him.

Guatemala City is divided by zones from zone 1 to zone 21, the architect that design them,  did  them in such way that it has a shape of a curled snake.  In the year that they discovered this, new bills came out in Guatemala, the new bills had  a symbol of a snake.

The Haunted Lake:  The legends tells about a Princess who felt in love with a prince, who was her father´s enemy.  They used to sea each other hiding from people near by the lake called Atitlan which is considered as one of the most beautiful in the world.

The father of the Princess in away had and idea of that romance, of course he did not agree with them at all.  The father told his daughter that it was time for her to get married and they did a big party in which the king invited several  Princeses of all the cities.  That night  they had to chose one, so they did a test to each one, and the winner will have to get married immediately with the Princess that same night.

Of course the princess, didn’t want to get married with anyone but the one that she loved.  So she decided to run away, sending someone to go call her lover  to meet, at the same place as usual.  She never realized that the messenger was a backstabber and told the king about it.  Later that night getting ready for the supposedly weeding, the King by that time knew that his daughter had gone away,  so he sent  the troops to look for her.  By midnight the troops obviously found both of them, and took them to the king.  But before that they had to crossed  Atitlan Lake  to get to the town.   When they were getting to the middle of the Lake the boat where the princess was going drowns, and she dies.  The prince gets out the boat and throws himself to the lake trying to rescue her, but it was to late, she had drowned.  When they get to the town  the king kills the prince and since that night until these days after 5 o’clock p.m. the lake attracts people to the middle of the lake and takes them to the bottom of it, and the people disappears supposedly where the princess had died.  A lot people had drowned and their bodies are not found, of course there is no answered for this, and experts can’t explain where does the force comes from when the people are attracted, and its odd because all of this happens after 5 p.m.
