Solving Right Triangles

When you get into the more challenging triangles where not all three sides are given we use the following trigonometry rules.

Sin X  = opposite / hypotenuse            Csc X = hypotenuse / opposite

Cos X = adjacent / hypotenuse            Sec X = hypotenuse / adjacent

 Tan X = opposite / adjacent                 Cot X = adjacent / opposite

 

Csc X = 1 / sin X

Sec X = 1 / cos X

Cot X = 1 / tan X
