Proportions

 Proportions will be used later in Geometry to solve similar figures and other types of problems yet, it deals with a simple basic concept of finding a common denominator.

Example:

Is four fifths equal to eight tenths?

4  =  8   »    (2)(4) = 8    »  8  =  8

5     10        (2)(5)   10      10    10

 

Yes 4/5 is equal to 8/10.
