Solving Systems of Equations

Graphing Method:

Simply graph the equation on the calculator and find where the two graphs intersect.

Addition Method:

Let's take two equations:

2x-3y=3

-x+4y=1

Multiply the second equation by 2.

2x-3y=3

-2x+8y=2

Add the equations.

5y=5  » y=1

Substitute 1 in the first equation for y and solve for x.

2x-3=3 » 2x=6 » x=3

 ----

  2x
