TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS

In scientific work, the Celsius or Centigrade (°C) and Kelvin (K) scales are most commonly used. It is important to note that the Kelvin scale is an absolute temperature scale, in which no zero degrees ideally represent s the lowest attainable temperature.

The table below compares various temperature scales.

Fahrenheit (°F) Kelvin (K)

Celsius(°C)

212° 373 100°
32° 273 0°
-459° 0 -273°

Fahrenheit - Celsius Conversion:    C = 5/9 (F - 32)

                                                     F = (9/5) C + 32
