Limits Involving Infinity

Infinity - A Concept for mathematics that is used to define the largest possible number.

Exp.

 lim       (5 + 1/x) = 5      Because 1 over a giant number is zero

x » inf.

Asymptote - a line on a graph of which the line gets infinenetly close to yet never crosses.

Exp.

 lim      (x+1)/(x-2)   =  3/0  =  DNE

x » 2

 lim      (x+1)/(x-2)   =  3/0+  = inf.

x » 2

 lim      (x+1)/(x-2)   =  3/0-  = negative inf.

x » 2

This function is not continous because at x=2 the function is not converging on the same point.
