Solve Factoring

In previous chapters we talked and discussed about how to factor polynomial equations (an equation with the highest degree being two is polynomial).  Now we have to find a way to find answers for these difficult looking yet simple to solve problems.

Example:

Given 2x² - 5x +3

First Step - Factor

(2x -3)(x-1)

 

Second Step - Separate into two equations

2x - 3 = 0   x = 3/2

  x - 1 = 0   x = 1
