Renaissance which means rebirth is used to describe a period of great change in Europe.  The rebirth of classic architecture took place in Italy during the fiftieth century, and eventually spread to the rest of western Europe, putting an end to the gothic era.  By classic architecture we mean that of the Roman design, including its arches, vaults, and domes, as well as its decorative style
