Past Mechanics II

This section centers on two areas of physics that we have just recently come to understand: electricity and light. Electricity, the energy that powers our modern society, is a complex and sometimes difficult thing to understand. But to gain such an understanding, especially in today's world, is invaluable. The study of light, unlike that of electricity, does not have great practical application at this time. But learning about this type of energy, which enables us to see, can be very rewarding.

Electricity is, of course, the basis of our modern soicety. Someone who knows electricity has a miriad of job opportunities. From working to large electric companies to wiring engines, from research to factory work, the demand for people with a knowledge of electricity is there. Knowledge of light, while it does not give one such a cornocopia of opportunity riches, does have its uses. Aside from research into light from a physicists stand point, knowledge of light and colors comes in very handy for stageworkers and people working in the media.

Doppler, Fourier, Coulomb, Ohm, and Maxwell all contributed to the study of Electricity and Light.
