Atom by Isaac Asimov. This book is an excellent read on the atom and on subatomic particles.

The Feynman Lectures on Physics by Feynman, Leighton, and Sands. Reading this three volume series of lectures given by Richard Feynman to undergraduate students at CalTech is a wonderful way to learn physics.

The Physical World    Half on chemistry, half on physics, this book gives explanations of many different areas of physics. A very large amount of pictures makes the read a visual experience.

The Physicists by Daniel J. Kelves. A very thorough, very interesting history on physics in America.

QED by Richard P. Feynman. An excellent series of lectures that make quantum mechanics understandable.
