| Lua
is a Hawaiian art which incorporated elements of jujutsu, judo,
karate, and aikdo. Knowledge of anatomy and nerve centers was
of vital importance to the art. This art was taught only to
a select few and what is known about it has been transmitted
by word of mouth. Lua was only taught to those who were able
to control their temper and was never used except in defense
of a life. Today, Lua is nearly a lost art, with no descriptions
about actual techniques. It's decline is attributed to the influence
of Christian missionaries. Now, only a handful of practioners
are the only ones keeping this nearly extinct art alive. |
