War Tactics
Back ]

    The
Chinese developed many war tactics and new weapons to help them to defend China during the era of the Great Wall.  The Qin developed the crossbow which fired up to 250 yards. Iron-casting techniques allowed the Qin to make swords out of iron as opposed to bronze (this technology didn’t reach the West until the 12th century).

The Hans established squadrons for war.  Horse breeding stations were set up along the inner portions of the Wall (renegade Xiongnu warriors trained the horses)

The Ming developed gunpowder, land mines, and cannons to protect.  They also developed a highly effective strategy for defense to protect The Wall.
