Genghis Kahn

http://www.angelfire.com/or/mongolemp/ghengis.html In the 1100's Genghis Kahn united the tribes of Mongolia. Kahn set out to make the most well-trained and disciplined army ever. He appointed a special group of officers who were trained in special war tactics. These were sent to other tribes to teach the other men these skills as well.

After all of this was in place Kahn set out to capture all of China. He launched his first attack from His Hsia, a state in Northwestern China (by doing so he could evaluate his army). He launched his attack and won. He then moved on to conquer all of northern China which he did in 1215 CE after an attack on the Qin dynasty.

Before moving on he conquered many Muslim lands and many more lands in Europe. They reeked havoc everywhere they went. It was not uncommon for them to kill off an entire population after an attack. They destroyed North China so thoroughly that a person could walk through the lands and not even notice that things had once been there. Kahn died in 1227 and then his son Ogatai set out to destroy the rest of Europe. However he died and the Mongols were forced to return to Mongolia to elect a new King.

Kublai Kahn

Kublai Kahn, the grandson of Genghis Kahn became the next ruler of Mongolia. Kublai completed the conquest of China and set up the Yuan dynasty which lasted from 1279-1368 CE. He fought unsuccessfully in Japan and had more tolerance for other people unlike the Kings before him. This led to the fall of the Mongols.
