Potential Energy is the energy
that an object stores within itself, but does not use at a certain moment.
Potential Energy (PE), equals weight times height.
PE=mgh
In
this case m i
s mass, g is gravity, and h is height. One
example of potential energy is a roller coaster while it is at the top of a drop.
The majority of the energy that it contains is being stored (as potential
energy), and this energy will be converted into kinetic
energy when the roller coaster car rolls down the drop.
