Kinetic
Back ]

    Kinetic energy is the energy of motion that an object possesses.  Kinetic energy (KE), equals one-half mass times speed squared or:

KE=1/2mv2

Kinetic energy is converted from PE, potential energy.  Then, kinetic energy is converted back into potential energy.  For example, on a roller coaster, when the roller coaster car is at the bottom of a drop, it has the  greatest kinetic energy, but it will soon be converted back into potential when the car stops at the top of the next drop.
