Geology is the study of earth using physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. It is an observational science in which people spend their time looking at and recording the earth's surface. Experiments are performed and physical and chemical aspects are taken into consideration. Scientist make hypotheses however, if they are disproved they are immediately dismissed. Many theories are also established in geology.  A theory is a prediction of what is expected to happen from an experiment.

Geology played a large part in the making of the Great Wall of China. The wall stretches through mountains (tall and small ones), through rivers, deserts etc. Erosion occurred on these mountains over the years and the wall began to whether as well. The Chinese used a very strong brick and mortar to prevent erosion from the wind. Also, temperature erosion played a large part in the building of the Great Wall. The area is pretty cold in the summer, it gets from 60-75 degrees Fahrenheit and in the winter it gets from 0-15 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperature erosion had a great effect on the Great Wall of China.
