The Forbidden City is a not very well known architectural achievement.  It is located in the inner city of Beijing.  The Forbidden City is essentially a palace with a moat and many religious places in it.  It was built under the Qin dynasty and gained fame whttp://www.haozheng.com/TravelChina.htmhen Kublai Kahn chose it as his seat in 1260 CE.  The city was established as the main capital at the beginning of the 15th century and perfectly displays the Chinese principles of balance and symmetry.  There are avenues of lions mythical animals, camels, elephants, horses, officials, and guardians carved from single blocks of marble standing guard of the city.  These figures are there to fend off evil spirits.
