Schizoid Personality Disorder

A person with schizoid personality disorder has a long-time pattern of detachment from social relationships and a restricted range of expression of emotions in interpersonal settings, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.

"Uncommon" to 7.5% of the general population has schizoid personality disorder.

People with schizoid personality disorder will have a majority of the following symptoms:

  • dislike intimate relationships or being a part of a family
    Dislikes being part of a family
  • enjoys a few (if any) solitary activities
    Enjoys solitary activities
  • little interest in sexual experiences
  • lack close friends
  • indifferent when praised or criticized
    Appears indifferent to praise or criticism
  • shows coldness and detachment
    Cold and Detached
