ISTPs are often called “The Mechanic”. They like to use their logical analysis, understanding of the way things work, and their strong power of reasoning on practical applications.
An ISTP is adventurous, fearless, loves action and gets bored easily. ISTPs are attracted to airplanes, motorcycles, sky diving and surfing. ISTPs are extremely independent. They need space to make decisions themselves. Furthermore, they do not believe in rules, as it might stop them from doing what they want to do. On the other hand, they make their own set of guidelines and beliefs and follow these self-set rules faithfully. They certainly with not take part in something that is against their personal laws.
ISTPs would spend some time alone to sort out the large amount of impersonal facts absorbed from the external world and make judements.
Being action-oriented people,, they probably would not sit all day planning. Their technical skills, emphasis on details and practical skills enable them to make quick, effective decisions and can become effective technical leaders.
ISTPs think that they should not make decisions according to their personal values, but according to facts. Because they are not naturally aware of their own feelings, and their effects on others, ISTPs’ decisions may create problems to them.
An over-stressed ISTP may exhibit sudden outbursts of anger, and blame their own inability to perform a task. When they do the task, they would expect the worst. They need to learn to pay attention to their own feelings.
ISTPs are usually good athletes, and have good hand-eye coordination. They are good at following through a project. They don’t have much trouble at school because they can think logically. They are born with many different abilities. However, an ISTP will be happiest when they are centered in tasks that require detailed logical analysis, action and technical skill. They take pride in their ability to take the next correct step.
ISTPs are optimistic, cheerful, loyal to their beliefs, uncomplicated in their desires, generous, trusting and receptive people.
