INTPs are not easy to be close to, and their circles of friends are small. As they value knowledge, the friends they choose are what they consider to be intelligent. INTPs tend to hold back themselves until they see that someone is worthy enough for them to express themselves. Although INTPs are not naturally sensitive to others feelings, they can be faithful and close friends. But once the INTP feels that the relationship is conflicting, he/she will leave it an not turn back.

INTPs as Lovers

INTPs are non-demanding and easy-going partners. They take their close relationships very seriously and are loyal to their partners. Compared to their internal world, their external life is quite simple. This makes the straight-forward and honest lovers, with pure love for their mates.

An INTP can be excitable and passionate about the INTP’s relationships with his/her partner and approaches intimacy with enthusiasm.

INTPs may be deeply in love, but are slow in meeting their partner’s emotional needs. This will be a big problem if their partners (especially people of the Feeling preference) want to be sure that they are loved. Also, INTPs do not express themselves well enough, so the partners will have problems in understanding each other.

INTPs hate conflicts, and because of this, they are likely to ignore it when it happens. INTPs need to face conflicts and learn to understand other people’s emotional needs.

INTPs as Parents

As parents, INTPs want to pass their knowledge to their children, and to bring their children up as independent and wise individuals. They will respect their child’s presence in the family and their opinions and they will allow their personal growth.

INTPs do not live in a structured manner, so they depend on their partner to create a structured environment for their children. If their mate is not someone from the "J" side, the child might suffer from the lack of boundaries. INTPs need to understand that young children do not naturally know right from wrong.

Although INTPs are laid-back parents, they do take their parenting roles seriously and work hard for it.

INTPs have difficulties in fulfilling their child’s emotional needs. In this situation, an INTPs child may do very extreme actions to get their parents attention to meet their emotional needs. INTPs need to let their children know that they care about them

Although they don’t show it, INTPs will be remembered with respect as faithful, fair, sacrificing and caring parents.

INTPs as Friends

An INTP’s friends probably share the INTPs interests. Since INTPs love theories and ideas, they are unlikely to be interested in people of the Sensing preference.
