ESTJs want to know exactly what is required to master the subject, and prefer step-by-step learning, and may struggle with theory. They prefer instructors to present material clearly and logically and not to arouse enthusiasm, and are usually not convinced by anything but logic backed by solid facts. They want to see ideas put into practice.

They often set study schedules and follow them, and may prefer to study with others as long as they can keep it organized. They read just enough to be able to start a project, and are good at public speaking and write best by dictating first draft. They also may need to revise final drafts by citing theories that underlie the facts and observations.

They are often leaders of campus groups, and participants and spectators at athletic events. Their roommates may find them friendly but wanting to be in charge. ESTJ females may be outspoken; and males tend to play traditional roles. They tend to work hard at playing; enjoy competing.

Stress may be caused because they make decisions too quickly, and stick to first decision rather then seek out other possibilities that might solve the problems. Also, it may be because they criticize others with little awareness of its impact. Other reasons may be inefficiency and confusion in groups, or others not being logical.

They are naturally good at getting organized and taking charge, but they must be aware of rushing decisions and be willing to reconsider. Also, they must balance criticisms by expressing appreciation, and should trust hunches about the meaning of abstract test questions. Lowering expectations of others may reduce frustrations.
