Volcanic Studies

The scientific study of volcanoes is called volcanology. The investigations on the nature and cause of eruptions have so far saved many lives. Observatories have been set up on the slopes or rims of several volcanoes. These observatories assist volcanologists in learning about volcanoes. Some of the observatories have been set up on volcanoes such as Mount Asama in Japan and Vesuvius in Italy.
