The geothermal energy underground can be tapped to drive turbines to produce electricity called geothermal energy.

Volcanic ashes can be used to surface roads, manufacture bricks and improve soil fertility. Sulphur deposits in volcanic areas are mined for industrial purposes.

Volcanoes also serve as "windows" to the earth's interior. The materials erupted by the volcanoes help scientists learn about the conditions within the earth
