The Origin of Tea
Tea probably originated from China. According to the remains from China's ancient history, it is believed that tea was discovered around 7000 years ago. At that time, tea was only used to cure diseases.
How did tea get its name?
Tea got its name cha in the Chou Dynasty. The word 'cha' was found in some Chinese classics, and the meaning was similar to that of tea. So people started calling tea, cha.
In the past, tea was not popular. It was only used as a medicine. Not everyone liked tea, because it was very bitter.
