Ancient Civilizations

Art & Culture

Art, in many parts of the world, is considered to be secondary to Science. The common perception is that Art is not important, as it is not absolutely essential for survival. However, the ancients clearly did not think this to be the case, as during their time, art fluorished. Culture, which included all aspects of art, as well as their traditions, trends and norms, was their pride, fulfilling their nationalistic instincts. Thus, stronger countries tried to foster their beliefs and lifestyles onto weaker vessal states many a time.

Under this section, we will explore the cultural aspects of the ancient civilizations and how cultures of the past still exist in the society of today. Some of the cultural aspects of the past include the building of cities and pyramids, the making of pottery, the ancient forms of writing, paintings of the past and so on. We shall now explore these areas under the following articles:

1. The Start of Written Records
2. Languages They Spoke 6. Early Paintings
3. The Use of Pottery 7. Greek Philosophy
4. Mystery of the Ancient Pyramids in Egypt
