PARTICIPATION RIGHTS
Participation rights include the child's freedom to express opinions and to have a say in matters affecting his or her life. As capacities evolve, the child shall have increasing opportunities to take part in the activities of society as preperation for responsible parenthood.
FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
Article 13 of the CRC recognizes the rights of the child to freedom of expression. This right includes freedom to seek, recieve and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writting or in print, in the form of art or through any other media of the child's choice.
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION
Article 7 of the CRC recognizes the rights of a child to freedom of association and freedom of peaceful assembly. According to O'Donnel (1995), freedom of association means the right to join association, clubs and organizations or set up new ones. It also means simply the right to choose the people you spend time with.
THE CHILD'S OPINION
Article 12 of the CRC states that the child has the right to express his or her opinion and to have that opinion taken into account in any matter or procedure affecting the child.
