Unexplained bruises and welts on different parts of the body
shaped burns that look like the object used - iron, heated wire, cigarette or hot plate; splash and immersion burns which suggest that the child was either thrown with or immersed in hot water
BEHAVIORAL SIGNS
Wary of adult contacts, flinched with sudden touch, Uneasy when other children cry, Frightened of parents, Afraid to go home, Display fear and distrust towards parents and adults for no apparent reason
May show signs of bedwetting, avoiding others, sleeping disorders, manianic depression, thumb sucking inappropriate to age, have suicidal tendencies, compliant, passive to aggressive and demanding
