Philosophy and religion have always been an essential part of Chinese life, particularly in the ancient times. These aspects of culture have molded the proper behavior and moral values of society's people, and provided them with a sense of security. In Chinese history, during the Golden Age, Buddhism, a religion that originated in India, emerged as an extremely popular religion, blending itself with and surpassing the ancient philosophies of Confucianism and Daoism. Together, these three ways of thinking and belief make up the religious portion of the Tang Dynasty, educating people, helping the country flourish and succeed, and establishing this period as the most prosperous time of Imperial China.
